Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass. (1 Samuel 15:3)
our Teenage Movie begins under the sign of two youths - Swain Newton and Harlequin Overture - bummed out on the Arte Johnson Memorial Highway, unable to score dr_gs in the hot, heated summer of [insert topical year *here*]. the teenage movie audience is expected to regard this film as more Menippean satire than realism, the characters representative types ("pressed-in"? "oversure"?). the youths are approached by two men called Glen inna large early 70's American sedan: th'Glens can take them to "th'Goods," you see. so the Youths are in the back seat with the Caprice/Impala/whatever cruising up.into the hills, and - following a gesture of a revolutionary nature by one of the Glens - Swain realizes that, following heaven knows what sort of Unspeakable F''wardity, neither he nor H.O. will be returning from the Mountain. Swain decides to hurl himself from the moving vehicle by way of the window of the rear left door. bruising his shoulder, he takes off down the mountain towards the lake. swimming a short distance he happens onto a ranger's station staffed only by a young dispatcher: she is unarmed. and Newton discovers he's being pursued by one of the Glens who - it turns out - has a bum knee and requires the aid of a single crutch. nevertheless, he makes good time during the course of a house-to-house search as he lumbers twards the Station. ...What happens at this point is missing from the script. it's either t'be completed later or there are simply missing pages. in any case, Swain is surprised to discover his friend Overture at school the next day acting as if nothing out of the ordinary had happened: he indicates, in fact, that he was taken to the agreed-upon Obscure Destination and goods exchanged for American currency, you know, sans problemo an' shit.
